Flight Delay Pass policy terms

Underwriter · my.getthere.now · Version 2026-10-23-r2-v29-g4 · Effective 23 October 2026 · Draft for legal review
If you bought a pass, the terms linked from your pass and emails are the ones that apply to it. How your data is used is in Underwriter's Privacy Notice.

The short version. If a flight on your booking is 3 hours or more late, or cancelled once we're watching it, we send you a pre-loaded rescue card to book a new flight on any airline. If the airline cancels it before then, we refund your pass. The pre-loaded rescue card buys new flights only and is never paid out as cash. Buy at least 30 hours before your first flight. Too late for that? You can still buy a pass for a later journey on your booking, such as your return, up to 30 hours before its first flight. If you miss or don't take an earlier flight on your booking, the airline may cancel the rest of it, and then no pre-loaded rescue card is issued.

1. Who we are

These terms are an agreement between you and Underwriter ("the Underwriter"), which sells you the Flight Delay Pass. GetThere runs the service for the Underwriter as GetThere ("we", "us"): it prices your pass, watches your flights and sends your pre-loaded rescue card. You can reach us at help@underwriter.getthere.now.

We take your payment for the Flight Delay Pass, and any money you add to your pre-loaded rescue card, on the Underwriter's own payment account, as its agent: paying there is paying the Underwriter. This is the same however you buy the pass, including together with a booking on a travel site.

"The Underwriter" means Sample underwriter for testing purposes only. The Underwriter funds every pre-loaded rescue card under these terms.

2. What the Flight Delay Pass is

The Flight Delay Pass is a policy issued by the Underwriter to get you to your destination when a flight on your pass is badly delayed or cancelled. What you get is a pre-loaded rescue card, a payment card funded by the Underwriter, to buy a new flight:

  • It works for 24 hours from when we send it.
  • It works at airlines and travel agencies only, to buy new flights.
  • It works for one purchase, then closes.
  • It is never paid out as cash. Rescue card money you don't spend is not refunded or paid out.
  • One pass gives at most one pre-loaded rescue card (section 5).
  • It does not replace any rights you have against the airline, such as refunds, care or compensation under passenger-rights laws.

3. Getting a price

  • Forward the booking confirmation or e-ticket email your airline sent you to quote@underwriter.getthere.now.
  • If the email doesn't show your airfare (what you paid the airline), we email you a link to enter it, and show you the price of each plan once you have.
  • Otherwise we reply by email with a price for each plan. A price holds for 12 hours, or until sales close if that's sooner. After that, forward the booking again for a new price.
  • Sales close 30 hours before the first flight on the booking.
  • Once sales have closed on the first flight, we can still quote the later journeys on your booking, such as your return. A journey is one flight, or flights with no more than 24 hours between them. Sales for each journey close 30 hours before its first flight. A pass for later journeys covers only their flights, and is priced on their share of the fare you paid (section 4).
  • We quote a booking in the currency it was paid in, when we can take card payments in it.
  • If any part of your booking was paid with miles or points, we value your flights at what those miles or points are worth plus any money you paid, and never more than the same seats typically cost to buy. That value takes the place of the fare you paid wherever these terms use it. If we can't value them, we can't offer a pass.
  • We don't offer a pass for a booking when we're unable to price its disruption risk. We'll email you if we can't offer one.

4. Buying a pass

You can buy a pass only if you live in a country where passes are on sale; checkout lists them. The pre-loaded rescue card is issued in your name by our card issuing partner.

You choose one plan. Each plan gives a different amount of coverage on your pre-loaded rescue card, set from the fare you paid and your flights. Your quote shows each plan's amount before you buy, and your pass email shows your plan's amount. That is the amount your pre-loaded rescue card holds, in your booking's currency. How each amount is set:

  • Basic: 1x the estimated seat price.
  • Plus: 1.5x the estimated seat price.

"The estimated seat price" is our estimate of what seats for everyone on your booking cost when we price your pass, and never less than the fare you paid. Your quote shows each plan's rescue card amount, and that is the amount your pre-loaded rescue card holds.

"The fare you paid" is the total shown on your booking for its flights and taxes, in the booking's currency. For a pass on a booking's later journeys, "the fare you paid" means their share of it, set by the distance of each flight on the booking; your quote shows it. One pass includes every flight and every traveller on the booking you forwarded, or for a pass on later journeys, every flight on those journeys. The prices we quote are before tax. At checkout we add any sales tax that applies where you live, and show the total before you pay. You pay by card at checkout. You give us a mobile number at checkout. We send a code to it on WhatsApp to check it's yours before you pay. Once you have entered that code, we send your pre-loaded rescue card there on WhatsApp as well as by email; if the number isn't confirmed, we send it by email only. We also ask for your legal name, date of birth and home address, which we share with our card issuing partner so it can check your identity and issue the pre-loaded rescue card in your name. The information you give us, and the booking you forward, must be real and accurate.

5. When you get a pre-loaded rescue card

  • We start watching each flight on your pass 24 hours before its scheduled departure.
  • You get a pre-loaded rescue card if a flight on your pass departs 3 hours or more after its scheduled time, or is cancelled by the airline once we've started watching it. "Scheduled time" is the airline's time for the flight when we start watching it.
  • If the airline cancels a flight on your pass before we start watching any flight on it, your pass ends, we refund what you paid for it in full, and no pre-loaded rescue card is issued. We'll email you. For your ticket, the airline's own rules apply.
  • If the airline changes the time of a flight before we start watching it, your pass moves to the new time. We'll email you. A schedule change like this is not a delay.
  • One pass gives one pre-loaded rescue card, for the first flight on your pass that is delayed or cancelled. The pre-loaded rescue card is sent to the person who bought the pass, in their name, once our card issuing partner has checked their identity. If you bought the pass for others on the booking too, you use the pre-loaded rescue card to book for them; please don't pass it on.
  • Before we issue a pre-loaded rescue card, we may check with the airline that the booking is still active. If the airline tells us it was cancelled or never existed, no pre-loaded rescue card is issued and the pass ends.
  • If you miss or don't take a flight on your booking that comes before the flights on your pass, the airline may cancel the rest of your booking. For a pass on later journeys, we always check with the airline that your booking is still active before we issue a pre-loaded rescue card. If it isn't, no pre-loaded rescue card is issued and the pass ends, and what you paid for it isn't refunded.
  • Once a pre-loaded rescue card is issued, it stands, even if the airline later shortens the delay.

You don't get a pre-loaded rescue card for a delay shorter than 3 hours, a flight you miss or don't take, a booking you cancel or change yourself, or a flight that isn't on the booking you forwarded.

6. Using the pre-loaded rescue card

  • The pre-loaded rescue card holds the amount shown for your plan in your quote and pass email, in your booking's currency. We tell you the amount again when we send it.
  • You can pay with it in any currency. A payment in another currency uses up the rescue card's amount at the exchange rate of the day.
  • Book everything you need for the rest of the trip, such as connections or a return, in that one purchase.
  • If the new flight costs more than the pre-loaded rescue card holds, you can add your own money to it. The rescue card money is spent first. Any of your top-up money left over after your purchase, or when the card expires, is refunded to the card you paid with.
  • Airlines often cancel the rest of a booking when you don't take a flight on it. When we send your pre-loaded rescue card we'll tell you if later flights on your booking are at risk, so you can rebook them too.

7. How we contact you

We send your price, your pass, alerts and your pre-loaded rescue card by email to the address you forwarded your booking from; by WhatsApp to the mobile number you give us at checkout, once you have confirmed it with the code we send.

8. Changes and refunds

If you bought your pass on our checkout page:

  • Your pass has a cooling-off period of 24 hours from when you bought it. During it, you can cancel your pass for a full refund: email help@underwriter.getthere.now and we refund the pass to the card you paid with. A pass bought less than 24 hours before the first flight on your pass has no cooling-off period.
  • After the cooling-off period, your pass can't be refunded.
  • Your pass covers only the flights on your pass, from the booking you forwarded. If you change your booking, your pass doesn't move to the new flights. If you cancel or change your booking, tell us at help@underwriter.getthere.now: your pass ends, refunded if it's still in its cooling-off period, and not refunded after it, including once we've started watching your flights.

If you paid for your pass, or part of it, with a voucher, such as points, miles or a card benefit, that part is never refunded or given back, even if your pass is refunded or ends early. A refund goes only to the card you paid with, for what you paid by card.

9. Fair use

If we reasonably believe a booking, a claim or a purchase with a pre-loaded rescue card is false or fraudulent, we can refuse a pass, end it without a pre-loaded rescue card, stop a pre-loaded rescue card, and recover any amount wrongly paid. We may also refuse future passes.

If you dispute the payment for your pass with your bank or card issuer (a chargeback), your pass ends and we stop watching its flights. If a pre-loaded rescue card has already been issued from it, the card stands, and we will show your bank that the pass and the card were provided.

10. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing the service as described in these terms. We are not responsible for what airlines or travel agencies do, including whether seats are available or what they charge. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for a pass is limited to the fee you paid for it plus the pre-loaded rescue card amount it promised. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. A pass you've already bought stays under the terms in force when you bought it.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. Before going to court, please contact us at help@underwriter.getthere.now so we can try to put things right.

Your Flight Delay Pass is a policy issued by Underwriter, which funds the pre-loaded rescue cards.
